The Agency has proposed outlay of Rs. 3450.00 lakh (Rs. 3110.00 lakh for General and Rs. 340.00 lakh for SCSP) for the year 2017-18. The component-wise objective and budget outlay is as under:

Education

The Mewat area is educationally most backward part of the State and literacy rate is 56% (Male-73%, Female-38%) which is very low. To promote the education level of district Nuh, Mewat Development Agency is running 08 Mewat Model Schools through Mewat Model Schools Society, Nuh headed by its Chairman, MDA. The MDA is also running a Girls Hostel of the capacity 200 girls. Free Lodging & Boarding facility is being provided to the Girls to promote Girls Education.

The Mewat Development Agency is providing 100% deficit to these schools. At present about 8000 (2017-18) students are enrolled in these schools and 62% students belong to minority community (Meo). The Boys: Girls ratio is 60 & 40%. These schools are Affiliated to CBSE and providing quality Education. The results of these schools are very good in comparison to Govt. Schools. To promote the education level of district Mewat, the MDA has proposed Rs. 2200.00 lakh under Education Component for the year 2017-18 to meet the deficit of the salary and other expenditure of 08 Mewat Model Schools and Girls Hostels.

Health

Health of Mewat area depends upon the health status of women and male/female children. Due to insufficient personal hygiene, cases of disability and diseases of ear, nose and throat along with tuberculosis and anemia are found in the region. So, staff salary for malaria controlling programme, equipments for Govt. Hospitals, vehicles for supervision of Malaria and Dengue, Manpower for Ultra sound Machine Health Camps and emergency medicines will be provided to health department, Nuh. The Agency has proposed an outlay of Rs. 100.00 lakh for the year 2017-18.

Community Assets/Works

To create infrastructure in Mewat area like Community Halls, Chopals, Boundary Walls, School Rooms, RMC rasta/interlocking rasta Toilets, Hostels etc. are to be constructed to meet out the requirement of the schools, villages and community in the Mewat area. The Agency has proposed Rs. 510.00 lakh for the year 2017-18, out of which Rs. 280.00 lakh will be utilized under SCSP component.

Sports

To promote sports activities in Mewat region, sports competitions like cricket, basketball, badminton, volleyball etc. will be organized in Mewat area/Mewat Model Schools. The Badminton Hall constructed by MDA will be maintained to uplift the sports activities in the area. The Agency has proposed budget provision of Rs. 20.00 lakh for the year 2017-18.

Agriculture

The Agricultural productivity in Mewat region is still considerably low due to rain fed farming, brackish under ground water, negligible canal irrigation system and lack of adoption of improved farm practices. In order to increase farm productivity, main emphasis will be laid on soil health, reclamation of soil, control of pest and diseases on mustard crop, change of crop rotations (pulse crops) and diversification in Agricultural and Horticultural crops. To meet out the scarcity of water, emphasis will also be given on watershed managements activities. The Agency has proposed budget outlay of Rs. 36.75 lacs for the year 2017-18 to provide subsidy on agriculture implements.

Animal Husbandry

After agriculture, dairy farming is the main subsidiary occupation of people in Mewat area. Milk yield can be increased with better health & balanced nutritional diet of milch cattleā€™s. Hence, MDA is in process to uplift the veterinary services in the area. The Agency has proposed Rs. 30.00 lakh for the year 2017-18, out of which Rs. 10.00 lakh has been kept under SCSP for mass deworming to maintain the health of animals, stomachic power/bolus to improve digestion and better utilization of feed, antidiarrhoeal for small animals to prevent calf mortality, antiseptic ointment for wound management and skin infection, uterine ecbolic for reproductive health management under general component and provided balanced nutritional diet to young calves and heifers of SC families.

Industrial Vocational and Off-Farm Training

Mewat is situated in National Capital Region (NCR), near Industrial Estates situated in IMT Manesar, Faridabad, Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) and IMT Sohna. There is great potential of employment for the youths of Mewat. The Agency has proposed an amount of Rs. 230.00 lakh for the year 2017-18, out of which Rs. 50.00 lakh has been kept under SCSP component. The MDA will provide coaching to the students of Mewat area for IIT, NEET, AIEEE and other exams. Two Computer Centres will also be setup at Nuh and F.P, Jhirka by Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited, Chandigarh and MDA will sponsor the students of Mewat area in different paramedical, technical and professional institutes by providing Rs. 75,000/- (Tution+Hostel fees).

Community Development

To uplift the economic and social empowerment of women in the area, MDA is in process to strengthen the Self Help Groups (SHGs) of women through Block level and Mewat Level SHG Federations. This is a successful process in Mewat area having 2291 SHGs associating 27478 women of different sections of the Society. The Agency has proposed Rs. 93.25 lakh for the year 2017-18.

Cultural Development

To promote Art & Culture of Mewat by protecting Historical Monuments, organizing seminars on Mewat culture and Promotion of National Integration & Communal Harmony, documentation, video film and publicity of schemes, Street Show on literacy and Swach Bharat Abhiyan. The Agency has proposed an outlay of Rs. 7.00 lakh for the year 2017-18.

Project Management

The Agency has proposed Rs. 223.00 lakh under Project Management component for salary of staff and other expenditure.
